This was an excellent book on the subject of prophecy and the difference between Old Testament & New Testament ways of seeing that gift demonstrated. I’ve seen both of these men used mightily in Prophetic Presbyteries at our church in Colorado Springs. They are wise, gentle and experienced men of God who love to strengthen and build up the local church. Highly recommend this very balanced book for anyone seeking to learn more about the gift of prophecy
I bought this book because it was part of the curriculum in a prophetic program I was in. This is written more from the viewpoint of the office of pastor and speaks more about how to make room for the prophetic in the local church. The authors provide good instructions for how to steward the prophetic in the church and how the relationship should be between the pastor and prophetic people within the church, such as worship leaders, lay people, etc. This book makes a case for the prophetic still being used today, but more in the sense of edification, exhortation and comforting purposes in the church, so it doesn't cover specifics about the means through which we receive prophetic revelation (dreams, visions, encounters, etc.). I would say it sticks to the operation of the prophetic and its purpose for the local church. I didn't give it the full 5 stars just because it wasn't any new information to me, but I highly recommend it for those who are wanting to start out in the prophetic in their local churches.
This well-written book brings practical and spiritual guidance to the subject of the prophetic. Every pastor and leader needs to read this book in order to properly incorporate prophecy into the life of the local church. Loved it!
